Test Preparation

Test Administrator's Perspective - Logging in

Stuff to Remember

  1. Log into the computer as yourself.
  2. Go to Google and search for 'OAKS Portal" or just go to http://oaksportal.org/.
  3. Open OAKS Portal and click 'Test Administrators
    1. If you are doing the TRAINING test, click 'Training Site' (The square on the right with the bicycle on it).
    2. If you are doing the REAL test, click on 'Test Administration' (The box on the left).
  4. You should have received a link and temporary password as a test administrator in your email. It will be from AIRAST-DoNotReply. If you didn't, let Josh know.
  5. The first time you log into the TIDE (Test Information Distribution Engine), you will type the temporary password and then create a new password that you will remember.
  6. You will select the test that you're going to practice or administer by clicking in the box in front of it.
  7. Then you will click 'Start Practice Session" at the bottom left hand corner of that pop up box.
  8. Once you start the test session, a new window will open with a Session ID. You copy this on the board or chart paper so students can copy it. It will be different each time you start a session.
  9. Students will NOT type dashes. They can use the TAB key to move from box to box, or click in the boxes to type the session ID.
  10. After they click 'Start my test', after a few seconds, you will see that you have students to 'APPROVE' in the top right hand corner of your screen.
  11. Students will NOT all be ready to approve at the same time because they'll log in at different speeds, so make sure to refresh your screen and keep checking to make sure no one is waiting to be approved.
  12. If a student leaves the room for water or bathroom, they MUST PAUSE, and when they come back they'll need to log back in. This means you will have to approve them again so they can resume testing.
  13. At the end of the testing time, you click the STOP button at the top and verify that you want to pause all students' tests and log them out.

Students' Perspective - Logging in

Stuff to Remember

  1. Logging into computer: username (testsb) is NOT case sensitive, but the password (Test1234) is.
  2. Check the volume of headphones BEFORE opening OAKS browser by clicking on the little speaker icon in bottom right hand corner and make sure volume is up.
  3. If students are practicing logging into a test session, they go to the PRACTICE TEST and they have to UNCHECK 'guest' in the bottom part so they can input the Session ID# that you wrote on the board.

Stuff to Remember

Put all printed out materials in recycling box when testing session is over UNLESS they have notes they want to save for next time.
  1. Notes for next test session can be kept in the file folders next to the printer. They must stay IN THE ROOM.
